The Masked Singer also replied to one follower who wrote: ‘Where there’s a rise in poverty there’s a rise in crime. It’s awful and sad and angering and wrong. So sorry for whatever has happened.’

Jason said: ‘Yeah, I’m not one of these people who buys into poverty = crime.

‘Im sure it’s a contributing factor in some cases but I grew up under the poverty line, my parents worked their a***d off doing several jobs, would never dream of stealing a thing off anyone. Scumbags are scumbags.’

Earlier this month, Jason admitted he still takes joy in embarrassing his six children in lockdown after weeks of trying to homeschool them.

The presenter said that despite getting to know his family even more during the pandemic, he still welcomes the chance to make them cringe with his behaviour.

In a interview with The Sun, Jason said: ‘I didn’t realise how thick I was. I thought I was pretty clever and then had to try to learn Year Seven maths, and that’s not my strong point.

‘I am more than happy to embarrass them, to start singing in a supermarket or something just to make them cringe.

‘I took my daughter to school last week in my pyjamas for pyjama day. She was like, ”That’s not what it is”. And I was like, ”Well it is for me”.’

Jason also confessed that his family were furious when he was revealed to be The Hedgehog on The Masked Singer, as he didn’t even tell his children he’d be taking part in the show.
